NAMES GOODWILL INDUSTRIES OF NORTH LOUISIANA
AS NOMINEE IN
"WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKES” CONTEST
Regions Bank has named Goodwill Industries of
North Louisiana, Inc. as a nominee for its "What a Difference a Day Makes”
Contest. As one of the nineteen
nonprofit organizations chosen to be nominated in the company-wide initiative,
Goodwill Industries will receive 50 volunteer service hours from Regions
associates and $500 just for being nominated.
However, a grand prize of 100 volunteer hours and $5,000 from
Regions will be given away at the end of the contest. The winner will be chosen by community
members and associates who will vote for their favorite organization, once a
day. The organization with the most
votes will receive the grand prize that they will be able to utilize to make
their community a little brighter.
"If Goodwill Industries receives the grand prize,” says D. J.
Roman, Marketing and Community Relations Manager, "we would use
the Regions associates’ volunteer hours to clean, repair and paint our Donation
Express Centers/trailers. With the $5,000 prize, we would implement a
job-shadowing program for at-risk youth where we would partner with Regions
Bank for a one-week Summer Camp. We
would provide life-skills and job readiness training and the youth could spend
a day job-shadowing Region’s employees to get a feel for working in a banking
environment. The money would include the
cost of clothing for the youth, food and snacks, a paycheck for the
job-shadowing day, prizes and awards, supplies and teaching materials. Our goal would be to enroll fifteen youth in
"We’re hoping that the community will support Goodwill
Industries of North Louisiana by voting for us as their favorite nonprofit
nominee,” says Roman. Voting will take
place from now until June 13th at Regions Bank’s website, at http://www.regionsbanknews.com/vote. Supporters can vote once a day, every day,
until the contest ends.
