Use National Thrift Shop Day to Donate and Shop at Goodwill Industries of North Louisiana
North Louisiana – August 17th is National Thrift Shop Day, and while it is a fun observance that celebrates the thrill of shopping for unique and affordable items, Goodwill is shining the light on sustainability this year.
Goodwill has been a leader in recycling and repurposing items for nearly 100 years, making every effort to sell, repurpose or recycle any donation received. Last year, Goodwill Industries of North Louisiana diverted 7.3 million pounds of used goods from landfills to give them a second life.
Goodwill stores help extend the life of usable items through its business model of collecting and selling donated goods, and in return funds made from those sales are put back into the local community through employment and job training programs and services.
To further commemorate National Thrift Shop Day, all nine Goodwill stores will be offering 25% off store purchase all day Saturday, August 17th.
“Goodwill loves to give back to our loyal customers on this special day. It is also a great day to raise awareness of Goodwill’s mission and for individuals to familiarize themselves with our stores and the treasures inside,” stated Shuntikia Larkins, Director of Retail.
